Academic & Spiritual Formation

Authority

  1. The Rector of the Seminary and the staff are responsible for the spiritual and temporal well-being of the seminarians. All staff members are with authority delegated to them by the Rector.
  2. All Post Senior High School seminarians, by virtue of their position as seniors, are to assist the staff in the maintenance of discipline by their own example of obedience and by encouraging others to do the same.
  3. The Seminary Officers, elected by the seminarians and approved by the staff, handle the technical details in the maintenance of discipline and order in the various departments of the seminary where they are assigned. They are assisted by the Class  and the Dormitory Prefects.

Student Council (S.R.C)

St.Teresa’s Seminary – Amisano S. R. C. was formed by 2010 / 2011 Post Senior High students.

The main aim for its establishment is to generally examine the needs and problems of seminarians and submit them to the staff for actions or solutions.
Another rationale for its establishment is to offer the platform for future priests to take up leadership roles and equip themselves for their chosen vocation.
The major challenge the council initially faced was that seminarians were reluctant to accept it. The reason was that the seminarians, at that time, could not understand the need for the council as they already had the prefectorial board in place and therefore envisaged role conflict between two bodies. However, upon further education and explanation, seminarians came to embrace the council’s roles.

INTELLECTUAL FORMATION

Education is not just the cramming of words and sentences, but the development of the fruitful co-ordination of the mind, the heart and the hands. This encapsulates the purpose of Intellectual Formation. The Seminary is a place where knowledge is not just acquired, but translated into praxis.

HUMAN FORMATION

It is the fulcrum for all other pillars of formation. Human formation deals with developing the human qualities to help one relate better with others. The goal of human formation is to make the individual a balanced person who is affectively mature. This is achieved as the individual becomes conscious of himself, develops a good character and builds his moral conscience.

SPIRITUAL FORMATION

This deals with the daily quest for God in all that one does. This quest or search for God is done through Prayer, Spiritual and Scriptural reading, developing resonance for the Blessed Virgin Mary. In the Seminary, spiritual formation of the individual is enhanced at the communal and person level.

PASTORAL FORMATION

This is the pillar of formation that aims at helping the seminarian to cultivate skills that will make him a true leader in society. It is an instrument for inculcating in the young man such leadership qualities as availability and approachability, collaboration and innovativeness. Students learn the fundamentals of parish ministry and become familiar with the basics of parish administration.
